Dellorto Sidedraft Carburettors
Sidedraft carburettors have been used for years to extract the most power from your engine. The budget racer and experienced racer knows that in order to get the most power from your engine you need the most tunable and best air flowing intake fuel system.
ie. More air/fuel into the combustion chamber the more power you will put on the wheels.
So what does it all mean.
You just got your first car, boy its good. This car is so cool. But you want to go faster. We are always looking for ways to go faster.
So the easiest way to go faster with your car is to modify it.
Step 1. Lets do mods that will not require opening the engine an anyway. You dont want issues with your warranty.
1. Cheapest and easiest is to fit a performance exhaust system. Go over get a 4 into 1 branch manifold and some free flow mufflers.
This will immediatel make the feel lighter and the cars engine will feel looser. The engine will rev up quicker and faster.
Performance increase 10% to 20% depends on car and engine type and size.
Step 2. Now that the gases leaves the engine quicker you need to make them enter the engine quicker. How? Free flow air filter. Install K&N or similar airfilter unit.
If you have a fuel injected car your air fuel ratio will be leaner as you are taking in more air. Car will be quicker.
OK Thats where you warranty safe mods ends. Any mods from this point onwards requires scratching on the engine. Be advised that from here onwards only the big boys that are serious about fast cars may continue to read.
Fitting of performance carburettor:
Pros: Much more tunable for any performance application. Performance results depends on how good you tune you car.
Cons: Can be heavy on fuel if incorrectly setup. Poor installation can be inconsistant with idling and performance.
Not to worry as long as you have someone like me your problems will always have solutions.
